Position Profile
Reporting to the Director of Product Development, a Senior Software Developer is a member of Lyryx's fast moving technical team. Working alongside two other Senior Software Developers, you would help to lead a multi-disciplinary team, on concurrent projects, through all phases of the project life-cycle.
The Senior Software Developer is responsible for managing the delivery of small to medium e-learning project(s). In addition, the Senior Software Developer is actively involved in participating and building-on various external relationships with our partners. A qualified candidate will have excellent project management, leadership, and software development experience and skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project plan(s) and manage all resources and deliverables associated with the development plan.
- Identify resources required for the delivery of related project(s).
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of project(s) and scope.
- Effectively apply Lyryx development methodologies and enforce project standards.
- Participate in internal process initiatives and proactively improve project management processes.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Provide content technical support to managed projects.
- Participate in the design and development of content and tools required for the project(s).
- Lead weekly content and attend operational meetings.
- Participate and lead in training of new developers assigned to project(s).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Leadership ability; experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams of 2-4 developers.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Knowledge of project management tools, best practices and processes.
- Excellent planning and organization skills.
- Effective problem solver.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive work environment.
Education and Experience
- Degree in Computer Science.
- Experience with Agile development process.
- Experience with Java, and Javascript.
- 3-5 years of software development experience.
- 1 - 2 years of project management experience.
- MGIS or equivalent an asset.
- General business knowledge (accounting, economics, finance, ..) considered an asset
